Welcome in the name of Jesus! Athens Lutheran Church is a congregation of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. For nearly fifty years our church has been a place where the Word of God is preached and His Sacraments administered. We believe, teach, and confess that the primary mission of the church is to make disciples of every nation by bearing witness to Jesus Christ through the preaching of the Gospel and the administration of the sacraments.

This website serves as a place where both members and visitors may find information about our church, our beliefs, and any events happening within our congregational community. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us! We hope to see you soon!

What We Believe

The Scriptures of the Old and the New Testaments as the written Word of God and the only rule and norm of faith and of practice.

All the Symbolical Books of the Evangelical Lutheran Church as a true and unadulterated statement and exposition of the Word of God, to wit: the three Ecumenical Creeds (the Apostles’ Creed, the Nicene Creed, the Athanasian Creed), the Unaltered Augsburg Confession, the Apology of the Augsburg Confession, the Smalcald Articles, the Large Catechism of Luther, the Small Catechism of Luther, and the Formula of Concord.
